The Mission and Vision of Selma University Stone-Robinson Library

The library's mission and vision are correlated by the continuous quest to place emphasis on the enhancement of resources designed to meet the spiritual, curricular, cultural, and recreational needs of all students, faculty & staff of Selma University.

The library has explicit objectives which support the Selma University’s mission and curriculum and will accomplish this by the following means:

  • · Acquiring and maintaining a comprehensive collection to support the curriculum
  • · Providing a learning environment conducive to study and research
  • · Partnering with faculty to ensure that all students become informative in accessing, analyzing, and using information as they progress through their academic pursuits
  • · Organizing the collection in an efficient manner for library users to locate needed resources
  • · Participating in cooperative and interlibrary loan agreement with other institutions for obtaining needed information for  Selma University’s Library users
  • · Preserving significant religious and cultural heritage of the University
  • · Systematically collecting data to measure library users’ satisfaction so that services can be continuously improved

The Stone-Robinson Library was constructed in 1960 and is named in honor of two former distinguished Alabama State Missionary Baptist workers:  Mrs. Susie Stone (Hardy)  who was the corresponding secretary of the Alabama Women's State Convention, and Dr. U. J. Robinson,  who was serving as  the president of the Convention during the erection of the library.
